Biography

Jeffery A. Goad is a Tenured Professor of Pharmacy Practice and the inaugural Chair of the Chapman University School of Pharmacy.  He received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the USC School of Pharmacy and Master of Public Health from the Keck School of Medicine at USC.  He completed a residency in pediatric pharmacy practice at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles and holds the Certificate of Knowledge in Travel Health from the International Society of Travel Medicine. 20多年来. Goad has maintained an active practice in Travel Health clinics and immunization services. He coordinates and teaches courses in travel medicine, immunizations, epidemiology, and parasitology. He is currently a national faculty and advisory board member for the American Pharmacists Association Pharmacy Based Immunization Training Program and chair of the APhA Travel Medicine Advanced Competency Training Course.  He has presented at over 300 pharmacy and medical conferences and published more than 70 articles and book chapters.  Dr. Goad is the Vice-President for the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases, past Chair for the International Society of Travel Medicine Pharmacist Professional Group and past President for the California Immunization Coalition and 加州的药剂师s Association.  In 2021, Dr. Goad was appointed to the California COVID-19 Vaccines Guidelines Drafting Workgroup.


Research Interests

Dr. Goad’s research program focuses on the social and behavioral aspects of consumer and healthcare professional’s decision making process and outcomes related primarily to immunizations and travel medicine.  He uses focus groups and the modified Delphi technique to identify areas of discordant beliefs and areas of consensus to better guide population based studies. 使用基于在线条件逻辑的调查, 各种基于人口的公共卫生模型, 包括健康信念模型和知识, Attitudes, 信仰与实践（KABP）, are employed to explore problems in healthcare delivery or needs assessment planning for healthcare resource utilization.  In addition, Dr. Goad uses retrospective database mining primarily to validate social-behavioral findings or to conduct patient care program outcomes evaluations.  The goal of his research is to bring a better understanding of the value of immunization and travel medicine and the contribution of pharmacists to these preventative health services.
